How Agents Can Succeed In Estate Planning

When it comes to estate planning, experts say learn as much as you can and do it as soon as possible. But while most Americans want to protect the interest of their heirs, 55% of people in the US die without any kind of estate plan or will.

The consequence of the lack of preparedness could be significant. Without a will or an estate plan, the assets (after paying off debts, if any) of the deceased are divided according to the decision of a probate court. The probate process can be time-consuming and may take as long as two years before the court arrives at a decision on how the property will be distributed. During the process, the assets in question are typically "frozen."
